Tehnolog, Russian for technologist, started producing plastic figures sometime in the 1990s. Over the years, they have greatly expanded the range of their offerings and steadily improved the quality of the figures. Early figures are around 60mm and the most recent production is 54mm. The product line is called Fantasy Battles and is really more akin to a wargame than traditional toy soldiers. Tehnolog has probably produced more fantasy figures in toy soldier scale than any other company. The quality of the detail on some of the figures is amazing. The only problem I have with Tehnolog is that the figures come in very few action poses. Most of the figures are in the "standing around looking cool" pose. I suspect that the lack of bases limits the poses they can use. Tehnolog also produces historical figures, some sci fi and an extensive line of post apocalyptic figures. Most of the fantasy figures have recently been rereleased in soft plastic.
