DOLLAR GENERAL: Mummy Army & Skeleton Army

Dollar General has a new 10 figure set of mummy soldiers available for Halloween 2018.   There are 10 new mummy figures and 10 skeletons (in 8 poses) which have been around for years.  The mummies are 54mm and the skeletons are about 45mm.  These guys are a little cartoonish, but I like the concept of mummy soldiers.  They are only $1 per pack of 10.  Excellent price.

I posted pictures of the Skeletons a couple of years ago.

  1. I like the art on the pack. I love how some of the figures are posed as if they're just laying around or tangled up with other figures. It's just randomly delightful. I don't know why you'd put that on the art on the back of the box but it somehow just makes these better.

    1. I like the art too. I think some are posed as dead dead rather than undead.

  2. Splendid! Thanks for letting me know about this. I'll be keeping my eye out. I have plenty of skeletons (Inlcuding the walgreens and much better tru lengends versions), but mummies are a must have!

  3. Always nice to see new figures come on the market and these Mummys would fit nicely into any Fantasy army, I cant believe how cheap these figures are which makes a welcome change. I like the scale of the figures also, The only gripe i have is that most of the poses are quite boring with not many action poses, I guess i will be doing more converting. I would love to see a company like this bring out a cheap bag of Orcs,Goblins,Demons or Lizardmen, But these will be a Great addition to anyones collection. I hope they are easy to get hold of here in England?

    1. We might see more figures sets next Halloween. I think the mummy army got made because the skeletons sold very well last year. These guys will sell well this year. So, maybe they will keep on making more new sets. Let's hope anyway.

  4. I want my mummy. I'd like to get some of these. The ones I had to date wee the larger Ideal ones and some two headed mummies that came with some other figures. i have operated on some of them to make them one headed.

GW used to have special rules for mummies, giving them magic and making them very vulnerable to fire.

  5. I just noticed people trying to sell loose sets of these guys on ebay for $10-$15. That is just greed at its worst. I can understand a markup of $5, but come on man. I assume they are selling loose sets because the package say $1.

    2. I know, right? I've been seeing some expensive "mummy army" packaged sets auctioned for those sorts of prices with the big "$1" price tag printed in the corner torn off.... It's kind of shameless.

  6. I picked up some mummies yesterday, along with more skeletons. Last year I bought 9 packs of skeletons. This year the store only had 3 of each set, which I bought. Last year they never restocked after I cleaned them out. I'd like to get more mummies, but no way do I want to pay ebay prices. Guess I have to do a Dollar General circuit tour. Trouble is, not all locations seem to stock these.

    1. I think you are right about not all of the Dollar General stores having these figures. Doing the DG circuit is the only way to get enough for an army.

  8. Lovely looking figures. Thanks so much for the heads up, Shaun! Like some other posters, though, not sure DG stores are near me and I have no intention of doing "the cicuit." Guess it will have to be e-bay. Grrr....

Bit of a non sequitur, but not sure how else to bring it up: have you seen the new-ish dwarfs from Publius? Three new, rather cracking poses!

  9. By the way, just purchased the mummies from e-bay for $8.50 shipped. Not too bad. So it's worth looking around...

  10. I found a few more mummies at another Dollar General, and I am now the proud General of a horde of 120 skeletons and 90 mummies! The horde fills an entire quart ziploc bag. Can't wait to set them up against my Tehnolog and Marx barbarian horde!

Haven't checked Dollar Tree yet. Last year they had the zombie bags. I wonder if there is anything new there for Hallowen this year?
