SCS DIRECT: Fantasy Creatures & Robots

UPDATE 11/10/2019:  Four new poses have been added to the Fantasy Creatures set; a knight; a minotaur; a griffin and a snake woman.

The new sets from SCS Direct are finally available on Amazon . . . only about two years later than expected.  They are only available on Amazon so far. I do not even see them on SCS's own website yet.

These are nice sets of figures.  In addition to the "Fantasy Creatures" and "Robots" labels, they each have a decal identifying them as "Wicked Duals."  The figures are a bit smaller than SCS's zombie and monster sets. I like all of the Fantasy Creatures except for the pixie.  There was no need for a pixie.  I was hoping for a lizardman in this set, but no, we get a pixie.  The Robots score very high on the weird scale, and I like that.  I just wish they came in more, or better, colors.

  2. Its nice to see that these figures have finally come out, I thought they never would. Overall they are a nice set of figures but if i'm being honest I was hoping for a bit more. I really like the Wizard Orc and Skeleton figures, But I think we could have done without certainly the Pixie figure and maybe the Dwarf and Unicorn. I would liked to have seen these figures replaced with perhaps a Lizardman figure,A Conan Warrior type figure,And even perhaps a Goblin Gnoll or Bugbear figure. So I will be buying a set of these and overall not bad but could have been better.

  3. I think the Robot figures are much more varied and exciting than the Fantasy figures but are not my area of collecting, I think the Monster figures are the best in this series so far. I also heard that this company was going to make a set of Alien figures so that could be very interesting also?

  4. The fantasy set is a let-down. The figures are undersized and the poses are mostly stiff and lacking in detail. I like the wizard and the centaur is OK too (but both are too small) but the Orc, the Ettin and most of the others are much too simplistic. These would not match well with the more dynamic and detailed figures from other companies. And you are right about the pixie... Who wants that?

I'm still waiting for a decent bag of just Orcs. I have a sizable Tehnolog and Dark Alliance Orc band but I need a source of cheap masses of Orcs like those Dollar General skeletons that were out at Halloween.

The robots are OK and would fit in with Tehnolog SF figures but they are a little on the runty side as well. I wish these sets were in scale with the older SCS sets.

    1. Yeah I would also like to see a nice cheap bag of Orcs, Goblins and Lizardmen in exciting poses but alas I cannot see it happening. I dont know of any upcoming Fantasy figures that might be coming up. Plus the way I look on it is if these figures didn't come out in many numbers when Fantasy was massive in the cinemas with films like Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter and many others, Now that Fantasy films are unfortunately are not being made I think the likelyhood of these figures coming out is very doubtful. The only Fantasy set I know of that nearly came out but never did was the BlueBox Orcs and Knights set which looked Brilliant but as far as I know it is not going to be coming out now which is a massive shame. There are plenty of Skeleton figures around to make a big army with but I agree I would to see someone have a go at some other Fantasy figures in numbers to add to the Skeletons. Lets Hope that there are some nice surprises coming up?

    2. How about eM4 orcs for your bulk orc needs? They look a bit like old warhammer fantasy orcs but at like 15 pence per mini. If you go for them, buy a pack of shields from them to cover up the ejection mark on the back though.

    3. Thanks for the tip, I will look into eM4?

    4. Em4 Miniatures makes 25mm (D&D-scale) products, so they would be minuscule compared to the large SCS Direct offerings.

  6. I'm so excited. I'm the commercial illustrator who was commissioned to develop and illustrate the ROBOTS for this product. I plan to post the actual pencil images on my FB page. I'm very happy to finally see them released.

    1. Nice work, what was the thinking behind the look for the robots? Some are a lot more cartoonish than others.

  7. Great to see 4 New Fantasy figures added to this set and i like them all especially the Minotaur figure, Although i like the Knight figure i feel he could have been in a different set of say Warriors of the world, And perhaps instead be replaced with A Lizardman Goblin or Merman figure, But overall a really nice set of figures and i will be buying a set of these soon.

  9. That's disappointing, I already bought the original tube and have way more of each than I'd know what to do with, so having to buy even more just to get the knight, griffin, minotaur and serpentwoman is a bummer.
